A BIT ABOUT US

Sherie Fenn, our founder and the ultimate optimistic dreamer of a better future for all women and children of Tanzania.

Sherie began traveling to Africa over 15 years ago which led her to fall madly in love with the Tanzanian people and their way of life. Over the years she has helped build medical housing for doctors and nurses in remote areas of Tanzania. She has always had a strong calling to help the local women who suffer from extreme poverty, and with little to no resources available to help change their current circumstances...it's time for us to help!

How Inspire’s story began…

I’ve spent over 14 years traveling Africa and 10 years in Tanzania. I’ve owned local businesses and experienced firsthand how difficult it is for a woman to start or do any sort of business in Africa based on my own gender. I’ve felt tremendous pain and loss from losing my safari lodge because of the male-dominated legal system that treated me like I was nothing just because I was a woman. I had spent years fighting local builders and government officials to be able to build in such a remote beautiful place, just to have it all stolen away a few years later by men with more money & local connections. I’ve taken a few years to recover and let my anger go so I can move on to bigger things and use what I learned over the years to help other businesswomen. From my first years in Tanzania, I knew one day I would help the local women, I knew this was part of my destiny here - through our own pain and suffering, great ideas can be born.

The Plan...

Inspire Arusha will assist local underprivileged women of Tanzania, Africa by helping them start their own small business. 90% of the workforce in Tanzania is dominated by men with few options available for women without higher education.

Here at Inspire Tanzania, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, we’ve been driven by the same ideas we initially founded our Women Empowerment Non-Profit Organization upon: support, empowerment, and progress.
